Newsalert Finance and Regulated Entities Department - EU Commission adopts banking package in response to Covid-19 pandemic

On 28 April 2020, the European Commission adopted a banking package to help facilitate bank lending to households and businesses throughout the EU.

The aim of this package is to ensure the capacity of credit institutions to lend and to absorb losses related to the Coronavirus pandemic and that banks can continue to lend money to support the economy by making full use of the flexibility embedded in the EU's prudential and accounting framework, with the ultimate objective to help mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus.
