Chiomenti strengthens and consolidates its leadership in finance and financial institutions advisory

Over 2020 and 2021, Chiomenti expects a significant expansion of the Finance and Regulated Entities Department further consolidating its leadership in finance and in financial institutions advisory work. 

Gianrico Giannesi and his team of seven professionals will join Chiomenti’s Rome office on 27 January 2020, increasing the headcount of the Finance and Regulated Entities Department, led by Gregorio Consoli, to 70 professionals. This is an important step towards achieving the Firm’s strategy in the sector. 

From its establishment, Chiomenti has been a market leader in high profile transactions involving Italian financial institutions. The Firm’s strategy consists in the creation of a market leading finance department in Italy focussed on financial institutions as part of a full-service Firm. Over the past few years, the department has expanded, becoming a leader in many areas of finance (structured finance, NPLs, restructuring). 

The entry of Gianrico Giannesi, formerly the head of the Banking and Finance department of an established international law firm, and his team, who will join Chiomenti’s Rome office, will further enhance the Firm’s expertise in structured finance and NPE and make the Firm a “powerhouse” in Italy in this sector. 

The entry of Gianrico Giannesi and his team is part of a broad strategy of expansion of the department which had already started in 2019 with the entry of Riccardo Rossi as Counsel, working in the lending sector.

Gianrico regularly advises Italian and international banks, financial institutions, asset managers and investment funds on regulatory matters, securitization transactions and bond loans (including project bonds and minibonds).

Gianrico has gained extensive experience in securitization transactions over different asset classes, including loans (non-performing and unlikely to pay), including where secured by state guarantees, and synthetic securitizations. He has also recently worked on the structuring of an innovative digital marketplace model for trading in portfolios of impaired loans.
