Capital Markets Day 2025

Capital Markets Day is an opportunity to take a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities of national and European capital markets.

 

The state of the Italian capital market and the challenges to competitiveness within the Capital Markets Union were the main themes of the second edition of Capital Markets Day, held on May 13 at the Chiomenti Auditorium in Milan. The event brought together leading professionals from the institutional, financial, and legal sectors.
At the heart of the discussion, moderated by Stefano Righi (Corriere della Sera), was the need to build a genuine Capital Markets Union capable of supporting Europe’s growth, innovation, and global competitiveness. The event opened with remarks by Francesco Tedeschini, President, who provided an overview of the profound transformations the sector has undergone in recent years.

 

 

The session began with an interview between Enrico Letta and Daniele Manca (Corriere della Sera), during which Letta emphasized the urgency of establishing a true Savings and Investment Union to enhance the EU’s strategic autonomy and global competitiveness.

 

 

The first panel offered an overview of European savings within Union markets and the financing of the economy. Speakers included Gregorio Consoli, Managing Partner; Andrea Beltramello, Head of the Union Capital Markets Unit, DG FISMA, European Commission; Maria Luisa Gota, Head of the Asset Management Division at Intesa Sanpaolo, CEO of Eurizon Capital SGR, and President of Assogestioni; Fabrizio Pagani, President of M&M Minima Moralia; and Paola Pietrafesa, Deputy General Manager at Allianz and CEO of Allianz Bank Financial Advisors.

 

 

 

Following the roundtable, Federico Cornelli, CONSOB Commissioner, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the need to boost venture capital investment in Europe.

 

 

 

The revitalization of the domestic debt market was the focus of the second panel discussion, which featured Benedetto La Russa, Partner; Laura Segni, Head of IMI CIB Legal Advisory at Intesa Sanpaolo; Marco Spano, Managing Director and Co-Head of the DCM & Financing Group at Mediobanca; Fabrizio Testa, CEO of Borsa Italiana - Euronext Group; and Gianluca Vittorioso, Head of the CONSOB Prospectus Office.

 

 

 

The event concluded with closing remarks by Marco Maugeri, Partner.
