Since 2003, the Firm has had a structured Practice Area of professionals dedicated solely to assisting major national and international banks and insurance companies and other financial institutions. Today, Chiomenti boasts the largest team dedicated to this sector, providing a unique offering in the Italian market.
Chiomenti has extensive experience in assisting sector operators in applying various requirements of the relevant regulations (such as constitution, ownership structure and capital requirements, corporate affairs, etc.), typical business activities, products, and relations with customers. The Firm plays a key role in the structuring of products and transactions with a high regulatory content. The Firm also identifies the most suitable solutions for the launch of cross-border operations by Italian and foreign intermediaries and assists issuers and placement agents in analysing the regulations for soliciting investment in financial products.
Having acted on all the major Italian deals in the banking and insurance sector during the past few years, both normal M&A and those driven by systemic imperatives, Chiomenti is able to support clients not only in everyday business activities but also through more complex, structured and multidisciplinary advice, thanks to the work of its specialized team, with a comprehensive knowledge of the relevant regulations and extensive experience in assisting private and public entities (including the Bank of Italy, Consob and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA)).
The Firm also works with the regulatory authorities, providing technical support for primary and secondary standardization processes in the financial sector, and provides advice to sector associations.
In 2015 Chiomenti became part of the Panel of Mediation Experts of the European Central Bank, demonstrating Chiomenti’s authority in this vertical market.
